Abundant Life Now

November 12, 2018

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

The gospel of John speaks of abundant life, so let me ask you this question: Are you living the life that Jesus came to give?

Jesus offers believers the hope of heaven, but He also offers us abundant life right now—a life that’s exciting and thrilling, a life in the Spirit. When we live abundantly, the Scriptures come alive to us. What we read, we can live out because Jesus came to be actively involved in our lives. He leads and guides us. He speaks to us. He works in us and ministers to people through us. That is abundant life.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

We gain this abundant life by believing in Jesus—not just by acknowledging His reality but by trusting in Him, relying on Him, clinging to Him.

Impact Our World

The world is becoming more insane every day. We hear about the possibilities of nuclear holocaust, about Christians being persecuted in other countries, about diseases that could wipe out millions of people, about earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricanes. On the political and social front, things are going from bad to worse. Perhaps all this bad news has gotten you down. Or maybe you’re burdened by the cares of life—going to work, taking care of your family, just trying to pay the bills. You need a fresh taste of the person of Jesus Christ, especially if you want to impact the world around you. You need abundant life.

As you discover Jesus in the weeks ahead through the gospel of John, may you gain a fresh revelation of who He is. May you be filled to overflowing with His life and be used of Him powerfully in these days in which we live.
