God Is Alive and at Work!

Well, Creation Fest has come and gone, our summer traveling schedule has been completed, and looking back over the past few months I can say with absolute confidence that God is alive and well and working powerfully in Europe and the UK!
From our time in Budapest back in June with leaders from all over eastern Europe, to the past few weeks in the UK with the Creation Fest outreach, we saw one example after another of God’s Spirit at work in people’s lives.
We saw many people make first-time commitments to follow Christ. People in pubs, people who “just happened” to stumble upon the festival, people who were drawn there out of curiosity or boredom, and others who were brought by friends and family.
Many others rededicated their lives to the Lord after being touched by Him through the teaching and preaching of the Word. Still others were greatly strengthened in their faith and others received a clear call into the ministry. I believe that we could see as many as five new churches started as a result of what the Lord did.
One fascinating incident that occurred during the course of the festival was the visit we had from the local police chief who was curious about just exactly what we were doing to have brought the crime on the streets of his little town to a virtual halt! I’ve read about things like that in various histories of revival but that was the first time I had ever heard anything like that personally.
The one thing I continue to see is that people are open to the Gospel when it is presented in a way that is relevant and unpretentious. People sometimes ask why I’m always going to Europe when it is so obviously “post-Christian.” The implication in those kinds of questions is that I am wasting my time. Those types of insinuations are to me rooted in the wrong perspective. Yes, governmentally and politically those nations are secular, humanistic, and in some cases even atheistic. But we have to remember that there are millions of individual people who, regardless of what their political leaders might think, are themselves dissatisfied with life, hungry for purpose and meaning, and open to a personal relationship with the living God. Jesus said it 2,000 years ago, and I believe that it’s still true today: “the fields are white for harvest.” He also said to the disciples then, “I’m sending you to reap what you haven’t sown. Others have labored and you have entered into their labors.”
I believe that is what is happening today. Others (past generations of Christians) diligently prayed for revival and awakening and did not see it in their lifetimes. We, I believe, are the ones who will reap what they have sown. The harvest has begun—let’s not miss this golden opportunity!
Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
Till the Whole World Hears,
Brian
